About the role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, this exciting opportunity is a full-time position, offering an opportunity for you to highlight your talents amongst like-minded, seasoned leaders in the Bioeconomy sector.

You are self-driven and will excel in these key areas of responsibility:

    1. Lead & Administer Greenspring Bioinnovation Hub
      • Develop and implement Greenspring Bio’s strategic plan that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals.
      • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the organization.
      • Oversee day-to-day operations by building and leading teams of internal and external resources, ensuring effective program delivery.
      • Manage the Hub’s budget, financial planning, and resource allocation.
      • Work with the board of directors to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
      • Identify and secure new funding sources to support the Hub’s programs and initiatives.
    1. Partnership Development
      • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, academic institutions, government agencies, and investors.
      • Develop and execute strategies for attracting, developing, and supporting high-quality startups and entrepreneurs.
      • Develop and maintain a strong network of mentors, advisors, and industry experts to support the Hub’s startups.
    1. Ecosystem Engagement
      • Promote Greenspring Bio’s mission and programs to the broader community.
      • Develop and deliver communications strategies that promote Nova Scotia’s bioeconomy ecosystem.
      • Develop proposals and funding sources, identify and contract technical expertise to execute.
      • Organize the design of and participate in events, workshops, and other activities that engage and educate the community.

    About you

    Your education has been:

      • A degree in science or business
      • Accredited course in strategic planning (asset)
      • Project management certified (asset)

    Your experience spans: (most of the following)

      • 10-15 years of related industry knowledge in the bio innovation sector (or related industry)
      • Operating a business in the Bio sector
      • Creating strategic plans
      • Overseeing committees and supported programs
      • Turning challenges into opportunities
      • Demonstrating lifelong learning

    Your knowledge spans:

      • Public policy
      • Government relations
      • Bioinnovation ecosystems
      • Clean tech start-up stages and strategies
      • Development and financing of CleanTech projects
      • Project and priority management
      • Lean Six Principles
      • Tracking and reporting
      • Multi-party interests
      • Organizational politics

    You have proven you are a skilled leader, since you have:

      • Worked autonomously and independently
      • Communicated effectively with others
      • Led others
      • Persuaded others
      • Advocated for action
      • Managed boards effectively
      • Managed relationships (up, across and down)
      • Developed strong partnerships and alliances
      • Presented opportunities that were innovative
