The Greenspring Bio team is pleased to share we have been awarded a Clean Fuels Fund project. The project is designed to support adoption of low-carbon alternative fuels produced in Nova Scotia for industrial operations based in the province. Phase one of the project involves an assessment of industrial operations and identifying biofuel options and methods of integration.  The project is consistent with Greenspring Bio’s mission and the low-carbon fuel producers it has supported in the province.

The project will undertake preliminary assessments to identify biofuel compatibility within industry partner operations. This initial phase will set the stage for technical trials, helping to assess decarbonization and financial impacts, as well as establish a state-of-readiness for biofuel adoption.

The impact of this project will be significant, reducing carbon emissions, promoting sustainable energy practices, and fostering clean economic development in Nova Scotia. By facilitating the transition to biofuels, we are contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

We look forward to contributing to Nova Scotia’s transition to net zero and clean economic development.

Stay tuned for more updates on this journey towards a sustainable future!

About the Clean Fuels Fund

Industries, businesses and communities are starting to switch to low-carbon and renewable fuels with help from the new Clean Fuels Fund.

The fund helps replace fossil fuels with cleaner fuels for heating, transportation and industrial processes. Options include biofuels and biomass from forestry waste products, green hydrogen and renewable natural gas.

The fund started in 2023-24 with $3 million for seven ready-to-launch projects in a quick-start stream. Another $3 million will be invested through an open call for eligible projects later this year.

The Clean Fuels Fund is a commitment in Our Climate, Our Future: Nova Scotia’s Climate Change Plan for Clean Growth. The plan aims to create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future for all Nova Scotians. It includes initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, switch to clean energy and transportation, create a clean economy, make homes and buildings energy efficient and able to stand up to the impacts of climate change, and help Nova Scotians adapt to the changing climate.
